The Gray-cheeked Thrush is a plain brown-spotted thrush of the boreal zone named for its gray (not buff) cheek. It and the very similar Bicknell's Thrush were long considered one species. Its thin, nasal call and the lack of eye ring and buff face are the best field marks in migration.
