The Black-throated Sparrow is a handsome desert sparrow with a bold black bib and white face stripes that make it one of the most distinctive sparrows in the West. It is specially adapted to arid conditions, obtaining moisture from insects and green vegetation and rarely needing to drink. It is found in the driest desert scrub of the Southwest.
