The Cooper's Margay is the northern subspecies of margay found in the thorn forests of Mexico and approaching extreme southern Texas. It is the most arboreal of the North American small cats, spending nearly all of its time in trees and rarely descending to the forest floor. Ankle joints that can rotate 180 degrees allow it to descend tree trunks head-first.
